ENERGY USAGE
Renewable
WE CONTINUE TO WORK TIRELESSLY TO TRY AND REDUCE OUR ENERGY USAGE. WE RECENTLY INSTALLED SOLAR PANELS, WHICH WILL SAVE 13 TONS OF CO2 PER YEAR. OUR ENERGY SUPPLIER ALSO RUNS ON 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY. WE ALSO INSTALLED SENSOR-LED LIGHTS IN ALL AREAS OF OUR PREMISES, ENSURING LIGHTS AREN'T KEPT ON WHEN NOT REQUIRED.
TO LANDFILL
Zero Waste
AT SANDWICH KING, WE ARE COMMITTED TO KEEPING WASTE TO A MINIMUM WHEREVER POSSIBLE. WHEN WASTE IS UNAVOIDABLE, IT IS COLLECTED BY A CONTRACTOR, DIVERTED, AND USED FOR ENERGY. IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS ALONE, OUR WASTE HAS AMOUNTED TO THE PLANTING OF 64 TREES, TAKEN 7 CARS OFF THE ROAD, AND POWERED 11 HOUSES.
FOOTPRINT
Carbon
WE ARE COMMITTED TO REDUCING OUR OWN CARBON FOOTPRINT AS WELL AS THAT OF OUR SUPPLIERS. ALL OUR DELIVERY VANS ARE NOW FULLY COMPLIANT WITH EURO 6 EMISSIONS. OUR DELIVERY ROUTES ARE PRE-CALCULATED TO MINIMIZE THE EFFECT ON OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT. SUPPLIERS ARE SOURCED as LOCALLY as POSSIBLE.
PACKAGING
Plastic Free
Our target is for all our packaging to be 100% plastic-free by 2025. In 2020, we were 20% cardboard/plastic-free packaging, and currently, in 2023, we are at 53%. We are continuously looking at new and improved options. All our packaging is made from recycled materials and is widely recyclable, including film and plastic.
SOCIAL VALUE
Unlocking
We run an apprenticeship scheme and also offer work experience to schools in the local area. Our telesales administrator started as an apprentice and is now an invaluable, experienced member of our team. We have a program of volunteering within our area, allowing us to connect with and support our local community.
FOOD SAFETY
People &
The safety of our products is our number one priority. We ensure that all our ingredients are sourced from reputable suppliers and, when possible, locally. All our ingredient suppliers must adhere to our criteria and possess third-party accreditation (GFSI recognized). We have a regular program that encourages health and well-being among all our employees, promoting fitness, healthy eating, and mindfulness.
